Checking out Shanghai Haiwan RV caravan Natural Forest Park. the area is a huge one, and maybe two days is not enough:) It is only a 1-1.5h drive from our home, Pudong area, Shanghai. After a quick ride on the highway and then a short drive on more minor roads, we arrived at our destination.
This time we did not rent an RV. Instead, we chose the fixed camper van. I hope there are good curtains. It is like a hotel room without loud neighbors :).
The temperature inside was adjustable and had everything similar to the hotel room. WiFi, big TV (the IPTV has plenty of English movies.), internet, water cooker, and coffee.
The restaurant and shop are close by.
Living room with an extendable sofa as a double bed for kids, the Master bedroom was chilly at the beginning. Later on, we found out that two windows were opened.
BBQ in the tent at Haiwan is a fantastic evening
Here is what we have been waiting for. BBQ on a brisk December night outside the tent. They have the BBQ for rent and ingredients you can bring or order from them. Up to you how you want to have it. Plenty of food, and delicious, as usual. Some small plastic chairs were used, and luckily they could withstand my 100kg.
Perfect food for the perfect evening
I woke up early in the morning and was able to catch this scene
I haven’t been to any place like this in China. Usually, a lot of people and cars go here and there. Safety is good, so you can let your kids stroll around.
Several different animals in the area. Some you need to pay for, but petting the horse is free.
There is a small farm with different animals for the kids. Horse riding, chickens, ducks, and many cats wandering around in the evening. Some of the animals are strolling free, and you can feed them. Petting the horse is one of the favorites for my girls, and riding even more. Prices are pretty high, and 10 minutes with 100CNY is not so tempting. The prices of camping activities are usually really high, so be prepared for it. For teenagers and adults, there are activities such as paintball and CS.
Some lots also available for the DIY travelers
We found out during our walk-around that some spots are available for the RV/caravan people. I think there were six slots where you could get water and electricity.
Conclusion
Overall the camping was a pleasant surprise and a good point you can easily visit there for a relaxing weekend trip. Outside of the holiday season, there are many things to do, but some activities might be closed. It is around a one h drive from Shanghai by the highway.

Something Good
- Camper vans are more like hotel rooms. Clean, warm and have all needed utilities.
- Big area with a clean and natural environment.
- Quiet, it is nice to be outside the city dazzle, and enjoy nature and it is close proximity to Shanghai
- At the time we were there (outside season) many activities were closed. I really don't know when is the season?
- Nice BBQ can be organized by yourself or by the restaurant. They will provide the equipment
- Farm animals are free to interact with.
Need some improvement
- At the time we were there (outside season) many activities were closed. I really don't know when is the season?
- Some activities are expensive, mainly the campsites in China are for weekend travelers so more costs seem not to matter.
- No close by shops, you have to rely on the shop inside the area.
- Might be difficult to get to as you need a car or taxi

Thanks for asking, here below some answers to your questions.
1. Only campers are available and there is a difference in prices. The prices vary from standard to VIP and on the list in this blog they are divided by weekdays, weekends, and peak season. Prices are per camper so it does not matter how many you are.
2 There are different grades of campers, as per ours it was more or less like a hotel room with wheels without cooking facilities. Fridge and water cooker included.
3. VIP can easily fit 6 people and it is also including a bigger private yard.
4.Yes there are BBQ places, you can select to rent only BBQ or BBQ including the food.
5. The bedding and towels are included. Clean and tidy and you can request more if needed.
6.Yes it should not be any problem. Didi or normal taxi (reception can call for one)
