Going up to the mountains and spending the whole day there

After a couple of hours of driving from the “To Journey” camping site, we arrived at Huangshan Mountains. Some difficulties in finding parking space as the RV needs additional height. Finally, I found a place behind some buildings. Later on, I discovered they had a large parking area at the entrance.

Purchased the tickets and bus fares. Easily done and took the bus to the mountains. After about 15 minutes, we arrived at the cable car. As usual, there are plenty of stairs; maybe we covered 10% of the area. What can you say about the view? It was purely magnificent.

Huangshan (Chinese: 黄山), meaning the Yellow Mountain(s), is a mountain range in southern Anhui Province in eastern China. It was initially called “Yishan” and was renamed because of a legend that Emperor Xuanyuan once made alchemy here. Vegetation on the range is thickest below 1,100 meters (3,600 ft), with trees growing up to the treeline at 1,800 meters (5,900 ft).

The area is well known for its scenery, sunsets, peculiarly shaped granite peaks, Huangshan pine trees, hot springs, winter snow, and views of the clouds from above. Huangshan is a frequent subject of traditional Chinese paintings, literature, and modern photography. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of China’s major tourist destinations.

Japanese sauna and relaxation near Huangshan City

After a long day in the mountains, I checked for nearby camping places. It seemed impossible, and boondocking was not a suitable option this time. Everybody was tired and in need of a good shower and dinner. I checked the GPS and found out that in a nearby city, there is a Japanese sauna. There are many of these in China, and it is a good place for relaxing. I decided to park in their parking lot and check-in, which was the best decision on this trip. Hot springs, a sauna, massage chairs, movies, and kids played some video games. We had dinner with some dishes and were ready at midnight to crawl back to the RV.
