The camping area close to Shanghai where you can stay for a nice weekend with/without kids

This place is not easy to find on the internet or some other media but could be seen in the camping/traveling from below app. Both of the map applications did not have address information. At least Google maps can show the buildings but Baidu only shows fields.

Woyouzhijia

This is what we use during our trips. You can find camping’s, rentals, repair shops, and all other things needed for traveling in China with the app. There are some more useful apps so check this page for more information. The biggest limitation with Woyouzhijia is, that when searching with it, it has a search radius of a max of 200km and only in Chinese.

Arrival to the camping in Chongming Island

The campsite is located in between some farm fields and the sound from the highway could not reach or be heard at all. Plenty of green areas and waterways and some forest surrounding the campsite. In the area, we could find restaurants with standard local dishes for lunch/dinner and there were plenty of seating places for a bigger group.

Water and electrical post camping China, Shanghai — The campsite had these electricity and water supplies available for all camping places, so it is very convenient

Dingwen RV Camping Base, RV from Shanghai arrived — Motor homes in the evening from Shanghai. Some bigger family having birthday party with RV’s

Local restaurant at Dingwen RV — No need to cook if you don’t want to. From the restaurant you can order some dishes

Nature is closely present — Some view of the nature at the camping

Mini house for rent — Couple of small cabins for rent, unfortunately the water seems little bit murky

Some fisher man solving the net — They were fishing also in the area, maybe next time to bring some fishing equipment and BBQ it

Jurta tents in Shanghai — Strange tents in the area. Empty inside, maybe for rental for activities

Single toilet at camping — At the moment, one toilet available at the camping area, more toilets available at the activity house and restaurant

Hammock in the Chinese campsite — Nice to take a nap on the hammock here. They have hang them little bit here and there for daily rest

Activities for the kids in the activity house

Kids found immediately the activity house where they had fancy and nice pieces of equipment, starting from microscopes with specimens you could study. For the dark night telescopes were available and hope the Shanghais lights and pollution are not preventing star watches. Ping pong is a must and also they had a small shop with some snacks and drinks. At that moment shelves were not filled fully in the shop but as per the owner, they will fill more and have a bigger variety later on.

Studying the ants by microscope — Studying the ants with the microscope in the activity house

Sciense equipment for kids in camping close to Shanghai for kids — This is interesting to look how the small insects look like with and microscope. Also they had many other scientific equipment for kids use. For example telescope and barometric weather

Ping pong for everyone in China — Available ping pong table for the quests. Nice posters on the wall so you don’t forget where you are

Small shop at the camping — There is one small shop at the camping providing snacks. Shelves were half-filled but according to owner it has just opened

BBQ at the camping with new equipment

Picnic tables at camping in Shanghai — Having a picnic table and chairs with you will make the dinner easier to enjoy

The campground had new BBQ that you could borrow. Also they can provide you with BBQ set to your spot

BBQ on stick at Dingwen camping — Russian style saslik BBQ.

The campsite had brand new BBQ’s that you cold borrow. We took that change immediately and made some Russian style sasliks. Having your own tables and chairs with you is nice add-on so you can enjoy the dinner in piece and with your family. The owners/staff are very friendly and if needed they can provide tables/chairs and BBQ to your place to enjoy meals on the spot without the need to drag everything from home.
